Club Structure

Ash Tree Boat Club is a Non profit making organisation, with its primary functions being the social enjoyment of the Inland Waterways by the membership together with associated activities involving the enhancement of the canal system throughout the country.

We have one type of membership, which is called "Family membership", this entitles a family of one/two parents and any number of children under 18 years of age to hold membership all covered by the one Family membership fee.

Membership Fees fall due on 1st January of each year.

General meetings are held on the Second Monday of every month, excepting August when no meeting is held. We do not have our own Club House but hold our meetings at the Brereton Sports Club, to which we are affiliated. The address is Armitage Lane, Brereton, Rugeley.

Officers are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting which is held on the second Monday in January.

We also have Non-Executive Vice Commodores who are appointed at the discretion of the Committee subject to a vote of acceptance by the General membership.

Commodore:- Responsible for the general overview of Club activities and policies, relies heavily on the other Committee members to do their best to put the Commodore in a good light at all times.

Vice-Commodore:- First reserve in absence of Commodore.

Secretary:- The work horse on the Committee, responsible for keeping track of members information, phone listings , letter writing on behalf of the Club and other numerous administrative duties.

Treasurer:- Keeper of the club funds, with responsibility for the presentation of Annual accounts to the membership.

Social:- Responsible for all club activities OFF the water, including post meeting activities each month, annual dinner dance, etc.

Waterways Activities:- Responsible for organising ALL club activities on or around the waterways. Including weekend cruises throughout the year, Easter Bonnet and Christmas Lunch cruises.

Moorings Administrator:- This person is in charge of the general maintenance and upkeep of the club’s moorings. This includes the mooring area adjacent to the canal as well as all fencing , gardens etc.

Moorings Officer:- Sole responsibility for the allocation of moorings to new members as well as the day to day movement of craft on the moorings.

Public Relations Officer:- This person is fully occupied throughout the year in attempting to get the club’s activities mentioned, with photographs if possible in the local press also covers all publicity for the club.

Warden:- Our current Warden keeps a watchful eye on the Club’s moorings and members moored boats.

All members are entitled to put themselves forward for membership of the Committee. They must be proposed and seconded by two fully paid up members of the Club.
