Homes for Men and Women
Each resident has their own bedroom and some are wheelchair accessible. There is a comfortable lounge, dining room and well eqipped kitchen, and a well-maintained garden, with ramps at front and rear. Full activities are provided as part of the Home's daily programme, these include home maintenance, cookery, arts & crafts, sports, drama and music therapy, computers, horticulture, vocational training etc....
Staff provide round-the-clock support, with a computerised monitoring and evaluation system which tracks residents' progress and ensures a high level of care. Staff are all fully trained and CRB checked. The home aims to encourage residents to lead as independent a life as they are able, and several have successfully moved on to Supported Housing.
Fees vary according to the needs of the residents, and the level of care is determined by Social Services together with the client and staff assessments. All are accepted on a trial basis to ensure compatibility with the other residents.
Housing Projects
Yad Voezer manages two Supported Housing Projects for women and one for men, who - while not requiring the high level of care provided by the residential homes, still need considerable support during the day and night. The projects have been hailed as a model scheme and an excellent example of how people with learning difficulties can be supported in living independently.
The Local Authorities are working with Yad Voezer to facilitate this move towards supporting people in the community, and it is planned to open additional schemes in the future.
Family Support
Our Family Support department offers real help and support to families who are frequently under a great deal of stress. It also acts in an advocacy capacity for learning disabled clients and their families, attending hospitals and Social Services reviews to support clients and their families. Support for accessing Government funding and help with Statementing is also available
Yad Voezer is well known for its expertise in advising families with a child diagnosed with ADD & ADHD, dyslexia, learning disability, mental health problems and developmental delay. This expertise has led to Yad Voezer being consulted by parents and professionals from around the world.
Outreach and Respite
Learning disabled young people find it difficult to socialise and they need this as much as mainstream young people, both for making friends and meeting people, as well as to provide stimulation and the opportunity to take part in interesting and fulfilling activities. To this end, Yad Voezer provides clubs for boys and for girls, taking place several times a week, providing transport, refreshments, music, dancing, drama and art as well as a variety of other activities, in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Yad Voezer provides Domiciliary Care when required including home visits or residential respite care. Day Respite is available in our residential homes as assessed by Social Services with funding dependent on the level of care provided.
Our Holiday Schemes are part of the Respite Service and every Summer, groups of learning disabled people take part in camps as well as day outings for residents and non-residents.
