Alan Dempster

The Discipleship group endeavours to bring people to a closer walk with God. It holds responsibility for the worship activities that take place at Wade Street Church. It will also seek to promote other means of coming closer to God such as Home groups, 1 to 1 mentoring, prayer triplets and the like.

We are always looking for new people to join our House Groups and to help in prayer and worship.

My background is that I was brought up in a Christian home and except for a few years in my late teens early twenty's have always been committed to Christ and his kingdom. Serious Christian growth began for me in a bible study group with a bunch of earnest young people nurturing each other through praise, study and friendship. It taught me that God works in many wondrous ways but especially through his people.

As an Elder my concern is to use the gifts God has given me to try to be part of whatever brings people into our Christian family and in particular to Wade Street Church. I see my role as contributing to our vibrancy through outreach and discipleship. I am particularly interested in how we lead those seeking Christ to a closer relationship and for those who have found Christ into a deeper understanding. At the heart of this is I would place the role of the house/cell/small group as I see this as a special place where an individual can grow, and be empowered to help others to grow, by sharing the joys and sorrows of Christian life.
